On January 31, 2013, the Lillard family faced an unimaginable tragedy—a devastating house fire that claimed the lives of their beloved daughters, Sophie and Madigan, and destroyed everything they owned. In the midst of overwhelming loss, the Lillards found strength in the love and support of their community and a desire to create something meaningful from their heartbreak.

Sophie and Madigan’s Playground was born from that love—an effort to honor the joyful, creative, and spirited lives of two beautiful sisters by building a memorial playground and park where families can come together to play, learn, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Next year, I’m honored to be running in the 2026 Disney Princess Half Marathon on behalf of Sophie and Madigan’s Playground. As I train for this magical event, I’m also raising funds to help carry their legacy forward—one step, one mile, and one memory at a time.

The mission of Sophie and Madigan's Playground is to honor the lives of Sophie and Madigan Lillard by building a memorial playground and providing opportunities for children and their families to play, learn, and create lifelong memories together, and in ways that reflect the beautiful personalities and spirits of these two sisters.
