Running a half marathon has been on my life list for a while, and I’m excited to take on a challenge that pushes me both physically and mentally. What I love most about running is the mental discipline it develops, learning to keep going when something feels hard, uncomfortable, or intimidating. It reminds me that we are capable of hard things and that sometimes all we have to do is take things one step at a time and keep moving forward. Running has also been an important part of my personal growth and faith, teaching me to be dedicated, trust the process and have patience.
I’m especially grateful to be running for Sophie & Madigan’s Playground because their mission is something I truly believe in. Sophie and Madigan were two sisters who tragically passed away in January 2013. Their family cherished the memories they shared together and wanted to honor their daughters by helping other families create those same meaningful memories.
Sophie & Madigan’s Playground was created in their memory as a place where children and families can play, connect, and make memories together. Located in Frederick, Maryland, the playground is free and accessible to children of all abilities.
I’m passionate about children spending time outside, families making time for play and movement, and creating memories together. I’m so thankful for organizations like Sophie & Madigan’s Playground that help make those experiences more accessible to families.
