Help Me Reach My Fundraising Goal
As many of you know my running journey started in 2011 when a new friend suggested I give running a try. I thought she was crazy but I figured I didn't have anything to lose. I started out using the C25K app on my phone. I never moved past a week if I couldn't complete the running portions without having to stop. It took me longer than 9 weeks to complete the training but I did it. I completed my first 5K that spring with a surprising 37 1/2 minute time! I was so proud of myself. I didn't stop there and I continued to run.

For my 40th birthday (October 2014) I trained to complete my first full marathon in just under 5 1/2 hours. I know most folks don't look at doing something so grueling as a birthday present but the overwhelming joy and self accomplishment I felt when crossing that finish line brought me to tears! Every time I think of that experience it gives me the chills. I'm still over the moon proud of myself!

I now have a new goal....I'm going to run the 2015 Disney Princess Glass Slipper Challenge. What is it? I will run a 10K on Saturday (6.2 miles) and a Half Marathon on Sunday (13.1 miles) for a total of 19.3 miles in two days all at Walt Disney World....and well I'll probably be dressed as a princess while doing it. This will all be happening in the middle of our next Disney vacation. Most folks I have mentioned this to think I am absolutely crazy....but they've thought I was crazy before and they'll think I am crazy again. =)

In doing this Glass Slipper Challenge I have decided to raise money for Sophie and Madigan's Playground, located in Maryland.

Not only will I be running for the memory of Sophie and Madigan, two little girls who lost their lives way too soon, but I will be helping fund raise for a themed memorial playground that will provide a place for children and their families to PLAY, LEARN, and CREATE lifelong memories.
